Suns to Face Mountain View on Sophomore Day
The CVC Men's Basketball Team will celebrate "Sophomore Day" on Saturday when they face the Mountain View Lions in their home season finale. The Suns will honor Amariye Blunson, Kris Frazier, Desmond Kennedy, Kamani Morris, JF Thomas Jr., Trent Washington, Chantz Williams and Keith Williams.
*Shining Sophomores*
Amariye Blunson - Waco, TX
Blunson has been a mainstay at the point guard position for the Suns since stepping on campus, having started over 90% of his games. The Waco native has taken his game to another level this season averaging a team-high 7.6 assists per game to go along with 11.3 ppg.
Kris Frazier - Shreveport, LA
Frazier has been the epitome of Suns basketball while wearing the orange and yellow for Cedar Valley. Well respected by the coaching staff and his fellow teammates for his unselfishness and integrity, he has definitely raised the bar for the expectations of the Cedar Valley student-athlete.
Desmond Kennedy - Dallas, TX
Kennedy's sharpshooting for the Suns earned him an All-Metro Athletic Conference/Region V Second Team selection in his first season at CVC. This year it didn't stop, with the former Carter Cowboy putting up 61 points in an early season outing. So far this season he is averaging a career-high 20.3 ppg, 45.9% from the field, and 41.8% from beyond the arc.
Kamani Morris - Centennial, CO
In 21 games played this season, Morris averages a stat line of 3.1 ppg 3.6 rpg, shooting at a clip of 45.9%. Morris' scoring highs this season were eight points against Brookhaven and North Lake.
JF Thomas Jr. - Dallas, TX
While at CVC, Thomas has earned many accolades. During the 2016-2017 season, he earned NJCAA All-American honors, to go along with an NJCAA First Team Region V selection, a First Team Metro Athletic Conference selection and he was named Freshman of the Year for the Metro Athletic Conference. So far this season, the South Oak Cliff graduate is putting up career numbers, averaging 19.7 ppg, 15.0 rpg, and 5.6 apg.
Trent Washington - Dallas, TX
Washington made a role for himself early in the Sun's rotation with many high-scoring showings and leads the team in points per game with 21.8. Currently, he has scored in double-figures in the last ten games, including three outings of at least 30 points.
Chantz Williams - Cedar Hill, TX
The Triple-A Academy product is averaging career highs in points (6.9 ppg) and rebounds (5.9 rpg) for the Suns this season. C. Williams has been a reliable source for CVC in the paint with a 53.0% field goal percentage.
Keith Williams - Dallas, TX
K. Williams has been a defensive stalwart for the CVC hoops program, doing the little things that may no show up in the box score. This season he is averaging 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.9 assists per game.
The last time the Suns and Lions met, MVC came away with an 84-68 win earlier this season. Washington scored a game-high 33 points.
