Cedar Valley Salvages Series with North Lake

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team salvaged the final game of a three-game series against Dallas College North Lake Friday.

After dropping a pair of one-run, 10-inning contests in the first two games, the Suns bounced back for 13-3 victory in eight innings in the series finale. The Blazers won the first two games, 12-11 and 20-19.

Cedar Valley (19-23, 6-15 Dallas Athletic Conference) ran out to a 5-0 lead after three innings. North Lake (19-27, 10-11) scored twice in the top of the sixth, but Cedar Valley answered with four in its half of the inning to extend the lead to 9-2. Both teams picked up a run in the seventh, and the Suns put it away with three in the bottom of the eighth.

Cedar Valley finished with 13 hits.

Suns right fielder Addison Brown was 3 for 4 with three runs batted in. first baseman Drake McIver went 3 for 5 with two RBI. Second baseman Jovan Bernal went 2 for 5 with an RBI. Center fielder Rendon Garcia belted his first home run of the season, and left fielder Ryan Hernandez cranked his second.

Starter Christian Alcala (2-4) went 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk, and struck out four in the win. Caden Nachtigall pitched the final inning and a third, giving up just a walk, while striking out two in scoreless relief duty.

The Suns begin another three-game series with No. 6-ranked Dallas College Richland (26-18, 15-6) at home 12 p.m. Wednesday.
