Davis Named DAC Offensive Player of Week

Dallas College Cedar Valley's Jaquavius Davis was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Baseball Offensive Player of the Week.

A sophomore from Dallas, Davis batted .692 (9-for-13) with a walk-off grand slam, two doubles, a triple, nine runs batted in, eight runs scored, two walks, a stolen base and two sacrifices as Cedar Valley went 4-1 last week, with a pair of wins over National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 9 Dallas College Richland. Davis had a 1.23 slugging percentage and .688 on-base percentage in the five games.

Inserted as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday, Davis belted an 0-2 pitch for a walk-off grand slam as the Suns, who are receiving votes in the NJCAA DIII rankings, came back to beat Richland, 20-18. In the third game of the series versus the Top 10 Thunderducks, Davis had a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth to help Cedar Valley capture the series.

Davis is batting .342 with two home runs, eight doubles, four triples, 32 RBI and 14 stolen bases this season.

Cedar Valley (35-17, 15-12 DAC) will finish the regular season with a three-game league series against Dallas College Brookhaven (13-35, 7-20) beginning 12 p.m. Wednesday at home. The two teams will meet noon Friday at Cedar Valley and 12 p.m. Saturday at Brookhaven.
