Simmons Named Conference Pitcher of Week

Dallas College Cedar Valley's Jaxon Simmons has been named the Dallas Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Simmons, a sophomore from Aledo, Texas, went 2-0 during the week, allowing no earned runs, four hits and one walk, while recording six strikeouts in nine innings of work. He registered a victory in relief against Southwestern Assemblies of God University, pitching two shutout innings without allowing a base runner and striking out two batters. He was the winning pitcher in the final game of a series-clinching victory at Dallas College Mountain View, working seven innings, allowing two hits, two unearned runs and a walk, while fanning four.

Simmons improved to 3-1 this season with a 3.86 earned run average and 13 strikeouts in four appearances.

Cedar Valley (11-5, 4-2 DAC) will host Dallas College Eastfield (14-6, 5-1) to begin a three-game series at noon Wednesday. The two teams are scheduled to wrap up the series Friday and Saturday at Eastfield.
